I enjoy integrating spirituality and theology into the counseling process. For clients who desire Christian Counseling, my passion is to bring the healing power of Jesus Christ to broken and hurting individuals since we know from God’s Word that “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the State of South Carolina, I maintain a private practice located in the Town Center of Patrick Square in Clemson, South Carolina specializing in individual and couples therapy. My experience includes counseling those struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, parenting, family of origin issues, as well as adjustment to life’s crises or interruptions. Prior to moving to Clemson, I worked as a therapist in counseling groups in Charlotte, North Carolina and Cumming, Georgia.
My therapeutic approach provides support and practical feedback to help my clients effectively address personal life changes. Treatment plans employ complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education-Psychology from Clemson University (1989) and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of South Carolina (1997). I am EMDRIA trained and experienced in the use of
EMDR Therapy, a proven therapy that has a direct impact on how the brain stores and processes thoughts and memories. I am also an Attachment Intervention Specialist through the American Association of Christian Counselors. Specifically for couples, I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy as well as being accomplished in strategies from the Gottman Institute, a goal-oriented and scientifically based couples therapy. In addition, I have completed training in Healing Prayer from Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida, and I am also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and a member of the Focus on the Family Christian Counselors Network.
I have been married for more than 30 years and am the mother of three grown sons. We are All In during football season, and we love to spend time on the lake any time we can. I maintain close relationships with my extended family, and I cherish any time I can get away with my girlfriends.
